Stormy Daniels ex-lawyer to move case from New York to LA

The lawyer Michael Avenatti, best known for representing porn star Stormy Daniels in her unsuccessful legal battle against US President Donald Trump, has requested for Daniels' criminal case against him to be moved from New York City to Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Avenatti appeared for a short court hearing in Manhattan's federal court where he was facing charges for allegedly taking a cut from the proceeds of his former client Daniels memoir 'Full Disclosure'. "We have a third-rate mobster who occupies the White House in Washington DC," said Avenatti addressing the reporters outside the court building and added Trump was unleashing the Justice Department "against his most ardent political enemies."

Avenatti also alleged that Trump's son Donald Trump Jr had "signed numerous payments in order to cover up a $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels in order to steal the 2016 presidential elections." The lawyer reportedly declined to answer a question as to why he had decided to move his court case.

Avenatti is also accused of trying to extort sports brand Nike out of more than $20 million (€ 18 million), and also faces fraud charges in California.
